Rest in Peace, Motherfucker

Osama Bin Laden killed in Pakistan

Reports coming out of Washington, DC indicate that US and Pakistani special forces pulled the trigger on Osama Bin Laden today.

According to Obama, the beginning of the end for Bin Laden was nearly a year ago, when intelligence regarding Bin Laden's hiding place came to light. After a year of careful investigation, surveillance, and close contact with Pakistani counter-terror forces, the time was judged to be right.

Bin Laden's death may offer closure to many of those whose family members were killed on 9/11, but it's pivotally important to remember that this does not render closure on the war on terror.

While Pakistan's involvement in bringing Bin Laden to justice is reassuring in terms of underscoring their commitment to fighting terrorism, there is still much to be done.

The Taliban must still be defeated in Afghanistan. Al Qaida needs to be finished off. Hamas and Hezbollah must be next on the chopping block. Last but not least, terrorist-funding regimes in Libya and Iran must be shuffled off into the good night. (Fortunately, the citizens of each country will do this on their own if provided the proper support and encouragement.)

It's not over. It won't be over until the defeat of the Islamist movement Osama Bin Laden led is remembered as his legacy.
